SCARFACE REDUX

Now live!

More than any other film, Miami’s cinematic identity is defined by Scarface. Whether they cringe at Al Pacino’s terrible Cuban accent or delight in the campy violence, Miamians have strong opinions about the film.

While we can’t ignore the fact that Scarface exists, we can empower Miamians to take back the image of their city from a Hollywood film that is over 30 years old.

Based on the highly successful model of Star Wars: Uncut, the Brian de Palma's Scarface would be divided into 15-second bits and posted online. Both local and international fans can claim 15-second chunks, download and "remake" them. Casual fans and filmmakers from all around the world will choose one of the 680 original chunks of Scarface on a website and then upload their completed reimagining of the segment.

Then, we will recombine the different clips into one feature-length, crowd-sourced film, which we hope to premiere at a very special free event as part of the 2014 Borscht Film Festival.
