Filmmakers everywhere are constantly given unsolicited suggestions for film projects, and Miami is no exception.
It’s not uncommon to hear “you should make a movie about…” followed by some subject.
The difference is that in Miami, everyday life is more bizarre than any Hollywood film or magical realist novel. Most of our stories would actually make really good films.
Bro You Should Make A Movie About . com is an initiative to create a digital repository of short, only-in-Miami stories that filmmakers could then turn into actual films.
Users with stories can upload audio or video directly, or record their stories at specific booths throughout the city.
Users can also hashtag content on Twitter, Instagram, or Vine using #moviebro or #miamistory for consideration.
Each Borscht filmmaker that gets a grant or support will be required to turn one of these stories into an actual film, which would be used as a transition at the film festival and released online.
Likewise, any filmmaker can choose a story from the website, adapt it into a film, and upload it back to the site.
